The permission for the sale of fire works to the general public has been granted by the government of Sint Maarten. However the police department is informing the general public of the following:
– The use of fire works on the public streets without permission is not allowed. The
use of fire works is permitted on private property and only on December 29th , 30th ,
31st 2011 and January 1st 2012.
– The police will act on any visible violation(s) of the law with the risk of having the
fire works confiscated and issuing the suspect a hefty fine.
– If there is any suspicion by police, that any criminal act such as ill-treatment,
attempts to cause serious bodily harm and destruction is caused by the use of fire
works, the suspect in this case will arrested and will be prosecuted.
