Medical doctor Radha Raghosing will further streamline communications between doctors

 

As per January 1st , 2012 the Sint Maarten general practitioner Radha Raghosing will work on the process of further improving the communication between doctors and medical specialists in Dutch Caribbean, Colombia and Guadeloupe. She will also accompany the specialists when patients are sent abroad from Sint Maarten Medical Center to other hospitals.

Doctor Radha Raghosing is general practitioner on Sint Maarten. Previously she worked amongst other for more than eight years in the Sint Maarten hospital.

"Because of her broad experience and vast knowledge we requested her some time ago to help further streamline the communications and referrals between the doctors in the various countries", according to Rob Sardeman of the ministry of Public Health, Welfare and Sports.

This regards for example the guidance, assistance and advice, so the correct procedures are followed when sending patients abroad, and the guidance, assistance and supervision on the forwarding of files of the patients who are sent abroad. Formally the (part time) function is placed within the care Insurance office (zorgverzekeringskantoor) ZVK.

Director Paul Schats of the care foundation on Sint Eustatius is pleased about the appointment of doctor Raghosing. "It is a good thing that she has been appointed, because this will cause the communication amongst the specialists of the Sint Maarten Medical Center and those in Guadeloupe and Colombia to improve. Also the communication between the various care institutions shall improve because of his, which will be to the benefit of the patients."

The doctors Raghosing and Schats and Joka Blaauboer (of the care foundation on Saba) and Mr. Sardeman were members of a delegation that visited various care institutions in MedellĂ­n, Colombia, and in Guadeloupe last week. The members visited various hospitals and consulted with various parties who are involved with the taking up, guidance and treatment of patients from Dutch Caribbean who have been referred to Colombia or Guadeloupe for medical treatment.
