AUDIO INCLUDED IN THIS STORY: In September 2009, 20 students started with the SBO Nursing Assistant/Helpende Zorg level 2 course of IFE, a renowned SBO Nursing school in Curacao. SVOBE, board of MPC and Sundial, organized the course on St Maarten with the assistance of St Maarten Medical Center, White and Yellow Cross and SBO Service Center.

9 students passed their final exam and on September 30th 2011, they received their Nursing Assistant diploma and badge from IFE and sworn the oath in order to become official Nursing Assistants.
Five other students have to fullfill an extended period of traineeship, but will do their exam in November.
Mrs Sonia Ursulita, educational coordinator of IFE, is very pleased with the overall performance of the graduates.
Of the total of 14 graduates 8 allready have found jobs ( SMMC, White and Yellow Cross and a family doctor) of which 5 will further their education by participating in an internal Licensed Practical Nursing Course of SMMC.
Two students are still in the process of applying for a job at White and Yellow Cross. One student wants to further her studies by signing up for the Licensed Practical Nurse course (level 3) that is slated to start in February 2012 at MPC and 1 student wants to sign up for the Registered Nurse course of IFE.
The course was funded with government funds, whereas the supervision from IFE and the books/materials were financed through Dutch Development Funds for Youths and Education.
