On 10 August 2011, 22 volunteers from the 429th Expeditionary Operations Squadron located at the U.S. Forward Operating Location (USFOL) visited the SILOAM Village to clean the children’s play ground. Volunteers donned work gloves, weed eaters and rakes to help spruce up the village property.
Volunteers also delivered 10 boxes of donations filled with diapers, clothes, personal items and cleaning supplies.
SILOAM administrators expressed their utmost appreciation. "You have blessed us again!" said Brother Herman Gijsbers, SILOAM owner/operator. The USFOL Chaplain observed, "SILOAM Village always welcomes us with open arms and hearts. It was awesome to know we’ve left the facility cleaner and safer for the children. Touching lives and making a difference is why our folks volunteer."
