Man arrested for break-in

On Monday April 18th at approximately 08.45 p.m. a unit of the 0-tolerance team spotted the suspect with initials E.K. from Sint Maarten walking in the vicinity of F.W. Vlaun and Sons on the Welfare road. E.K. is wanted by police as a suspect in several break-ins. A warrant for his arrest was also issued by the Public Prosecutor. E.K.

also fit the description of a suspect who shortly before had been involved in an armed robbery at the Sol Gas Station on the Union road.

When E.K. spotted the police patrol he took off running in the direction of Windsor road in the attempt to avoid his capture. The police started chasing the suspect through the neighborhood. The suspect remained hidden between the houses in the area. The K-9 unit was called in to assist in the search. During the search the suspect was caught the K-9 and arrested. The suspect remains in custody for further investigation.

 

Man arrested with illegal fire-arm

On Tuesday April 19th at approximately 10.00 p.m. a police patrol was directed to Sucker garden in the vicinity of FeFe bar to investigate a case, involving two men driving in a white Kia Jeep with license plate 7079AAA, who were in possession of a fire arm. The suspects in this case were spotted shortly before in the vicinity of Le Petit Chateau.

The patrol encountered the jeep and the suspects in question in the vicinity of Carolina bar. The suspects were questioned and searched however no gun was found on them. The vehicle could not be searched on the scene because according to the statement of the suspects a third person had left with the keys. The jeep was taken by tow-truck to the police department for further investigation. One suspect with the initial A.S. could not properly identify himself and was taken to the police station where he would remain until his identity was verified.

The second suspect with initials B.H. was allowed to leave. During a search of the vehicle that took place later, a handgun (pistol) was found under the passengers’ seat. This fire-arm was confiscated for further investigation. B.H. was detained on Wednesday April 20th. Both suspects were later questioned by detectives and remain at the police station for further investigation.

 

Conformation of shooting incident:

On Tuesday April 19th at approximately 10.00 p.m. an attempted armed robbery took place in Pelican keys at the residence of an elderly couple. This attempt was made be three men who were driving in a small white vehicle with license-plate M-3804. At least one of young men was armed with a rifle. No being able to completely carry-out the robbery, the suspect fled in the small white car. The police dept. was immediately informed and several patrols were sent out in search of this vehicle and the suspects. This vehicle and suspects were spotted driving on the Welfare road in the direction of the Kruythoff round-a-bout. The patrols sealed off the area in the vicinity of Daily Extra. The car was stopped and the suspects arrested on the scene.

During a search of the car a rifle, a machete and masks were found in the car. The weapons, masks and vehicle were all confiscated for further investigation.

 

Conformation of shooting incident

On Wednesday April 20th at approximately 03.00 p.m. several police patrols and detectives were directed to Dutch Quarter for a shooting incident. The victim was shot in one of his legs. He was treated on the scene and then transported to the Sint Maarten medical center for further treatment. The detectives and forensic dept. went to the scene to start their investigation. No one has been arrested in this case as yet.

There are rumors circulating that the suspect in this shooting fled the scene in a grey jeep, which was later found burning on hill of the old Oyster pond road. Also that this shooting maybe linked to other recent cases.

However the police department at this time cannot confirm this because the investigation is in its preliminary stage. When more information becomes available the media will be informed.
