The Semifinals of the SIMVA 2010 Volleyball started on Wednesday with the first match between Guess Who and Go For it in the women’s division and United against Babylons in the men’s division.
In the first match Guess Who maintained it’s unbeatened streak winning in style from Go For It in three sets with the partials being 25-17,25-23 and 25-12. In the first set Go for it started with a strong offense showing intention of giving Guess Who a run for their money.
They jumped to an early lead by the first technical time out with the score 8-4, but Guess Who tied the set at 9 and gained control to win the set. In the second set, Go For It again started strong, while leading till later in the set with the score 19-16. Again Guess Who rallied to tie the set and to go ahead to win the secomd set. In the third set Go For it lost steam and didn’t really pose any threat to Guess Who, who jumped to a lead of 16-7 by the second technical time out. With this win, Guess Who has a 1-0 lead in the semifinals and with a next win will go to the finals. Go For It has to win the next match to keep their dream of going to the finals alive.
In the second match of the night, United drew first blood against Babylons in their semifinals. They won the first and second set with the same score of 25-19. Babylons turned things around in the third winning the set with the score 27-25. This set was hard fought by both teams but Babylons prevailed. In the fourth set United took charge again to win 25-14 and winning the match three sets to one.
Volleyball senifinals action continues on Saturday at 7:30 when the Nitro meets Super Six in the women’s division and Reptiles meets Go For it. in the men’s division.
