The three had left the Venezuelan coastal town Adicora the day before at around four o’clock in the afternoon. Whey they gained sight of Aruba, they cast the anchor of their boat El Nazareth and their nets. They had intended to sail back at dawn the next morning. However, personnel of the Coastguard had spotted the three, and had found sharks and tuna in their nets. The boat, the anglers and the catch were brought to Barcadera. The catch had first been confiscated, but destroyed afterwards, in view of its poor condition. Justice imposed a fine of 1750 florins on the anglers. They will have to pay this amount before they will be allowed to leave Aruba. By way of precaution, the Coastguard removed parts from the boat to prevent the three from leaving prematurely.
