On March 9th 2010 an information meeting was held for the tendering of the water distribution project at the library for prospective bidders. The interested contractors were Caribtel, MNO, Verwat, Windward Roads, Farmex and Ashtrom Building Systems LTD.
These are the contractors who showed interest in the bidding process or project. On May 11th 2010 the opening of the tender or bids will take place at the Usona office in St. Maarten. The tenders will be evaluated by a committee comprised of a representative of Usona, representative of Planning
Bureau and Witteveen and Bos. The latter is a consultant busy updating the design which they created ten years ago. Since they were the project designers ten years ago, it is only
logical that they do the upgrade to their work. According to the Planning Bureau this project is scheduled to start at October 1st 2010. The estimated time to complete this project is
fifteen months, which will be completed by end of 2011.
The Planning Bureau met with stakeholders like utility companies, Gebe, Telephone, Cable, Physical Planning and development and Domain to get the time frame, input and their advise on properties etc.
