ORANJESTAD — During the Aruba International Film Festival this June, Bernardo Bertolucci will receive the Golden Aruba Award. The Italian producer will receive this award for his impressive and pioneering work, according to the festival organization.
Bertolucci, for example produced the movies The Last Emperor for which he received an Oscar, Last Tango in Paris, The Conformist and The Dreamers. Director of the Aruba International Film Festival (AIFF), Claudio Masenza, explains why Bertolucci was chosen. "Bernardo Bertolucci is simply my favorite producer. He is a constant source of inspiration in my life, both as cineaste and friend. It is a great honor for me to begin my work with the Aruba Film Festival by acknowledging his work." The award is a high point in the program of the film festival. Bertolucci will therefore be present personally. He will also participate with the program part In Conversations With, in which other celebrities such as Richard Gere and Guillermo Arriaga are seated as well. It had already been announced that Gere would open the festival on June 4th. He will also receive an award at the festival, namely the Humanitarian Award.
