French St.Martin Baseball and Softball Ass. announces the St. Martin player to form part of the French Baseball team for the next World Baseball Classic
For some time now French St. Martin Baseball and Softball Ass was requested by the manager of the French Baseball selection to select players of St.Martin with French passport to form part of the French Baseball selection for the next World Baseball Classic. After receiving the information requested the association put together the following roster of players :
1. Demitri Beauperthuy
2. Felix Brown
3. Rene Leverett
4. Omar Williams
5. Yamal Thomas
6. Ruben Daniels
7. Luis de la Rosa
8. Miguel Hanson
9. Gabriel Connor
10. David van Heyningen
11. Jean Antonio Samer
While some of these players are still working on some documents that have been requested and while the tryouts are still to be conducted the French Federation went ahead and selected the most known player, Rene Leverett as the first St. Martin player to the "elite list".
French St. Martin Baseball and Softball Ass. is of the opinion that if it was not for the unavailability or the lack of cooperation to make such available for the tryouts more players of St. Martin could have been part of this elite list. A soccer field the Luis Vanterpool Stadium, has now been made available for practice. The tryout are now expected to take place after the European tournament in May where a selection team from French St. Martin has been invited to participate.
The local Baseball Association is hoping to include some three to four more players of St. Martin to be part of the French Selection while are expecting to send ball players for the other French Baseball Teams that are about to start the competition.
