Poster campaign Aruba wins award in England

 

ORANJESTAD — Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA) has won a UK Travel Marketing Award for their poster campaign ‘ArOOOHuba!’

The advertising poster shows a girl in a bikini on the beach. The poster had been part of a campaign that had cost 225,000 dollars and had hung in all metro stations and metros in London at the beginning of 2009. The Chartered Institute of Marketing Travel Industry Group presents the UK Travel Marketing Awards every year with the purpose to recognize excellent performances in the tourism industry. The award was presented to Geoff Saltmarsh of The Saltmarsh Partnership, the PR-company that represents the European office of ATA in England. That company had also won the second place in the category Best Tactical PR. Humphrey Vrolijk, director of ATA Europe and Joanna Walding, director of ATA UK had attended the presentation as well.
Aruba currently receives two charter flights from the United Kingdom. These flights had flown 11,512 English tourists to our island in 2009. Last year, 440,000 dollars on free advertising for Aruba had been generated in England.
