WILLEMSTAD — Pedro Atacho, who was charged with forming a new government, presented his final report to Governor Frits Goedgedrag.

The new, and very last cabinet of the Antilles, will be inaugurated on Friday, March 26th, and the second cabinet under leadership of PAR Premier Emily de Jongh-Elhage.

In his report, Atacho indicates that all candidates to be seated in the new cabinet were subjected to a screening by intelligence department VNA. Emily de Jongh-Elhage (General and Foreign Affairs, PAR) leads the cabinet. The PAR further provides the Ministers Magali Jacoba (Justice), Omayra Leeflang (Education, Sports and Culture/Public Heath and Social Development), while current Minister of Finances (PNP), Ersilia de Lannooy will become colleague minister for the PAR.
The National Alliance (NA will provide Ministers Roland Duncan (Interior and Constitutional Affairs), and Patrick Illidge (Traffic and Transport). Minister Elvis Tjin Asjoe of the UPB is entrusted with Economical and Labor Affairs. Marcel van der Plank remains the minister plenipotentiary in The Hague on behalf of the PAR, while Mavis Brooks-Salmon (NA) acts as interim minister plenipotentiary.
UPB will also provide for the State-Secretary of the Interior, namely Felix Thomas. Ernie Simmons (DP Statia) returns to the new cabinet as State-Secretary where he will hold the position of Justice, entrusted with police affairs and penitentiary Windward Islands. Shamara Nicholson-Linzey (WIPM) is the State-Secretary of Constitutional Affairs.

PNP will provide the other State-Secretary of Justice in the new cabinet. The party has not announced any possible candidate yet, but promises to do so within short.
The new ministers and state-secretaries are to take the oath on Friday, March 26th, at eleven-fifteen in the morning. After the Governor had received Atacho’s report, he expressed his appreciation on the manner in which Atacho had conducted his formation order.

Formation costs lower than budgeted
An amount of 100,000 guilders had been made available at the beginning of the process for the formation of a new cabinet. The actual costs had been lower, namely 58,193.43. Atacho calculates that 60 percent was spent on traveling expenses and subsistence. According to him, he succeeded in keeping the costs low by not using consultants and mainly using government offices for meetings. The remaining amount will be refunded to the Commissioner of Inland Revenue.
