District Band recently released its first music video of the track ‘Its Just the things you do’, from its debut CD entitled "We Takin Over". The video was uploaded to You Tube and posted on the Distict Band’s Facebook page.
The video also premiered on St. Maarten Cable TV channel 15 on Friday January 8, 2010. The music video is an Arts Video Studio/Cool Muzik Productions collaboration.
"We are doing our best to showcase our music and continue to put St. Maarten on the map musically," band leader Calvin Mardembrough Jr. said.
Branded as St. Maarten’s Next Generation Jam Band, District Band has already released a song for Carnival 2010 entitled "Balance" and also released a song for Christmas 2009. This group of young people is definitely on a mission to showcase the talent of St. Maarten’s youth and demonstrate that there are many young people on the island who are positively engaged.
"We have learned to persevere and we continue to work hard and believe in ourselves," Mardembrough stated. He further thanked the Management Team for constantly standing with the band and also AVS and Cool Muzik Productions for making their first music video a reality. District Band was formed in the latter half of 2008 and took St. Maarten’s 40th anniversary Carnival celebrations by storm. The band has since played for public and private events on the island and Saba. Their debut CD was released in November 2009 and is available at Van Dorp and Yellowtail Bar & Restaurant at the Fishmarket in Simpsonbay.
