One of the programs is World Teachers Day, which features 27 teachers speaking about how teaching made a difference in their personal lives, what makes a great teacher, how important it is to know students, among others.

This special also includes the speech of the Commissioner of Education William Marlin on the theme of World Teachers Day.

The date and time for the GIS Special Program on the topic of World Teachers Day is Wednesday, October 14th, 2009 at 7:00pm.

The second GIS Special Program is on the International Day of Older Persons.

GIS went to the John Larmonie Cultural Center, where events are held for the elderly, and spoke to several persons about what life is like now, what life was like on St. Maarten decades ago, and what the future holds, also discussing some current issues.

The International Day of Older Persons is scheduled to play on Thursday, October 15 at 6:00pm.
