WILLEMSTAD — New clues were received after a TV-program Saturday evening and a rerun yesterday on the missing American vice-consul James Hogan via TeleCuraçao, police spokesperson Reggie Huggins announced today. He did not say whether these clues regarded amongst others, a cook’s knife that investigators had found at Punta Caballero, Barbara Beach.

Hogan was reported missing by his wife on September 25th. After an initial police search operation in Toni Kunchi, the search for the vice-consul was directed towards Baya Beach and the Caracas peninsula, as clothing from the American had namely been found at Punta Caballero. Bloodstains were also found on his clothing and at that location. According to a research carried out by personnel of the Dutch Forensic Institute, the bloodstains belonged to Hogan.
The Curaçao police had called on the population for clues on the missing American vice-consul during a special TV-program. From the program, it appears that there is still considerable obscurity on where Hogan went after he had left his residence on foot on September 24th around 11 PM.
It also became clear, that his nicely folded trousers and socks had been found as well as his shoes, kilometers away from his residence, namely at Punta Caballero. The discovery of a bloodstained cook’s knife of the brand Zwilling Henckels in the water was announced as well. Bloodstains had also been found on his trousers. His mobile telephone was also found in the water later on.
During the past weeks, a thorough search for Hogan was carried out on Curaçao by a special team involving FBI-officials and the American Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Netherlands support the investigation by providing soldiers and co-workers of the Dutch Forensic Institute.
Via Saturday’s TV-program, which was repeated last night, the police called on new witnesses as well as former witnesses who had possibly remembered additional details. The investigation team is for example interested in people who had seen the vice-consul on foot, or had possibly seen him getting in an automobile. The police also want to get in touch with witnesses who had possibly seen Hogan on the Caracasbaaiweg or at Bapor Kibra near the Breezes Resort. Furthermore, the police requests contact with the driver and passengers of a car of the brand BMW, which had been parked on the parking lot at Caracas Bay near the Seahorse restaurant. The police are also looking for people who had been at the peninsula, amongst which, a female who had spoken loudly.
Lost cook’s knife
Furthermore, the police are calling on people who have lost a cook’s knife of the brand Zwilling Henckels, or people that know persons possessing a cook’s knife of that brand. Finally, the investigation team is also interested in individuals who had known James Hogan, and knew where he normally had been hanging out, and with whom. All witnesses are requested to contact the Corps Police Curaçao at the telephone numbers 8666-124, 911 and 108 (anonymous).
