Dr. Dannabang Kuwabong will be the guest speaker for the 18th annual Black History Celebration lecture series, Saturday, February 28, 8pm at the University of St. Martin (USM), according to a press release coming from the Conscious Lyrics Foundation (CLF).
Born in Naville in the Upper Region of Ghana, Dr. Kuwabong is the author of four books, professor of literature and is presently lecturing at the English Department at University of Puerto Rico.
The professor will be addressing the topic ‘Africa, Mother of Civilization’ the theme for CLF’s 2009 Black History Celebration. This year annual lecture series is organized by the CLF in collaboration with the USM.
The lecture is the high point of the month long Black History Celebration, which included daily readings on Radio Soualiga, school visits by CLF members, a photo exhibition at the Artist’s Corner at Town Hall in Marigot, and the Black History quiz.
CLF is also reminding all participants in the Black History quiz they have only two days left to submit their answers. Answers can be forwarded to co*************@ya***.com or drop off at the Today newspaper at its office on A.T. Illidge Road, next to the Prins Bernhard Bridge, Philipsburg before 6pm Wednesday, February 25, 2009. The winner of the quiz will receive over five hundred US dollars in cash prizes, winner will be announced at 18th annual Black History Celebration lecture series, Saturday, February 28.
